‘Area Assistance Scheme’ is now ‘Community Builders’

As many of you are aware the Area Assistance Scheme has changed its name. It is now called COMMUNITY Builders. There will be information sessions run across the Mid and Far North Coast over the coming months to provide agencies with information on how to apply for funding. The dates for these sessions are below and attached you will find more information regarding COMMUNITY Builders.

Community Builders Funding Program

The new Community Builders Funding Program is a community strengthening and capacity building program. It has funds available on an annual basis for time-limited projects in particular regions of NSW. The program is funded by the NSW Department of Community Services. Non government not-for-profit organisations with an Australian Business Number (ABN) and local councils can apply for funds. For-profit organisations can apply too if they have a separate not-for-profit arm of their business. A funding round will open on 2 November 2009. A series of short community information sessions will be held in each Community Builders region to help organisations find out more about the program and how to apply for funding.
